Company accountant / bookkeeper
We are looking for someone to undertake the administration of the finance function, which is run on Sage 50 accounts package, for this leading East Anglian full-service marketing agency.
This position may suit someone looking for a full or part-time position.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
- Assist with preparation of monthly management accounts from Sage and comparison with business plan
- Monthly and year end reporting to MD/FD
- Assist MD/FD in preparation of annual business plans
- Balance sheet control accounts reconciliations – monthly and at year end
- Responsible for monthly payroll on Sage Payroll (some knowledge of system preferred) along with administration of company pension scheme
- Preparation of cashflow forecasts to assist with day to day and month to month management of cash
- Post and reconcile various bank accounts and dealing with payments
- Processing and allocating supplier invoices to purchase ledger and management of supplier payments routines
- Assist with monthly client invoicing routines with client facing staff to prepare, issue client invoices and posting to Sage
- Credit control to ensure efficient collection of monies via phone and email comms with clients
- Reconcile company monthly credit cards including monitoring expenditure
- Providing ad hoc financial reports as required for the MD
- Management of SageHR system and providing reports and ensuring payroll reflects holiday/sick allocations
- Any other ad-hoc tasks relating to the financial aspects of the company
Key Skills
- Sage and Sage payroll experience is essential
- 3-5 years experience within a similar role preferred
- Team working skills is essential
- Ensure payroll is accurately processed each month
- Support management in the accurate production of client budgets
- Reconcile accounts including receivable and payable
- Ensure cash resources are efficiently utilised and controlled
- Audit financial information for inconsistencies
Required Skills
- Bookkeeping/Accounting qualifications or by experience
- Experience of working with Sage 50
- Excellent numeracy and bookkeeping skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to close out tasks
- Good organisational skills with experience of working in a small team demonstrating willingness to support colleagues and contribute to wider team activities
- Well-presented and professional approach
