OneAgency helps reduce Norfolk food waste
Did you know that 63,000 tonnes of food is wasted in Norfolk every year, the equivalent of 140 Boeing 747 aeroplanes? Shockingly, the UK’s average family with children wastes around £700 a year buying and then throwing away good food and drink.
Supporting Norfolk County Council to reduce food waste, OneAgency recently created and launched Plan Eat Save – an exciting new campaign proud to support Love Food Hate Waste in Norfolk.
The aim of the initiative is to change behaviours through a lifestyle-focused brand with punchy, visual hints and tips delivered via social media, alongside a live cookery event. Engaging content across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram was the perfect way to target families and young professionals in the county, guilty of producing the highest levels of food waste.
To bolster the campaign, we got Ian Haste of Haste’s Kitchen – one of Norfolk’s best loved chefs and YouTubers – on board as official brand ambassador to create a host of recipe videos containing top tips and advice.
Ian wowed crowds by cooking up a feast of tasty dishes centred on reducing food waste during the live event outside The Forum in Norwich. Passers-by were more than happy to tuck in to free samples and took home recipe cards designed based on Ian’s recipes.
Despite the rain, we still managed to capture some great footage of the day, along with lots of user generated content and photos, to post on the Plan Eat Save social media channels. These posts were the best performing of the month – in fact Twitter impressions in September were nearly 200,000.
